One of the small Willow Wash Panels

One of the small Willow Wash Panels

Leaving Baker to enter into the Mojave Preserve, the landscape is big, open, and even a bit forbidding. It seems an inhospitable place to try and travel across on foot. Not far from Baker, however, early inhabitants left rock art while passing through the land. The panels are relatively small, but fascinating to see while pondering how people traveled in and used this land so long ago.

The rock art is a short distance from the paved road. It requires a very short hike on rocky terrain. Close enough to be a roadside attraction for most in my opinion. This is a great first attraction if you are heading to the preserve from Baker and highly recommended.
