Box Canyon

Maple Canyon likely needs no introduction for most climbers. If you are not a climber, however, you may have never heard of it. Maple Canyon is a large conglomerate canyon near Fountain Green. The rock has eroded into a surreal landscape of spires, steep overhanging walls, deep alcoves, narrow fissures, and the occasional arch. The climbing here tends to be steep, well bolted sport lines with options for most any ability.

In addition to the climbing, however, Maple is a rich area for hiking, camping, and off road vehicles. The crown jewel, in my opinion however, is Box Canyon. This deep, narrow canyon at the lower end of Maple Canyon is exquisite, and provides for a great canyoneering adventure. The canyon can be visited from the bottom (non-technical), or for a technical jaunt from the top.

Note: Box Canyon is private property. To date, the land owners have been incredibly generous in allowing climbers, hikers, and others to enjoy this amazing resource. Please be very respectful when visiting it in order to preserve access. Pickup and trash you may find, and treat the area with the utmost respect.
