Many have told me of the incredible beauty of the South Fork of Robbers Roost over the years. I first visited in 2006, descending the route described here and would agree; it is a magical place. For canyoneers with ascending skills, this makes a fantastic 1/2 or full day adventure. The drops are all relatively easy to ascend, and the canyons itself has a charming, easy-going feel. Keep in mind, SFRR is not like many of the other canyons in the area. It is narrow, but not a tight slot by any means. If you are looking for tight slots, or challenging down climbs, look elsewhere.
Below the technical section, a long stretch of canyon provides the ambitious with hiking opportunities before re-ascending back out. The South Fork is a very beginner friendly adventure for beginners with ascending skills. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera on my first trip, and poor weather on the second trip, so the pictures don't give a good feel for the beauty of the place.
