Upper Twin Corral Box is a solid two-star canyon in my book, yet I have done it several times! A short section of narrow slots quickly opens to become a deep walled, wide, and easy to traverse canyon. Turns out that while only a two-star canyon, it happens to have excellent primitive camping at its head and several other camping spots nearby. That makes this a great canyon to camp at and wander down in the evening or morning while the rest of the group is lazily hanging out.

There are two options on the map., The first is a loop that exits a bighorn sheep trail and follows a Jeep road back to the trailhead. The second is to go down as far as motivation allows and return the same way. I've done the full loop once, but down and back several times. For virtually all groups I'd recommend down and back.

The canyon starts with several narrow downclimbs. Make sure you are comfortable reversing these! They are easy, but coming back up always requires a lot more energy that going down.

Note: My pictures are from winter trips. Take it from my experience, the exit trail will be difficult (or impossible) to find if there is much snow. Full loop not recommended in winter. I attempted the full loop on my first trip, and ended up reversing back up the canyon due to slick conditions trying to get out the bighorn sheep trail.
