Sycamore Ruin just North of Prescott, AZ is a phenomenal ruin in that it sits on a cliff edge overlooking Sycamore Canyon probably 800-900 feet high. The walls are basically intact and so is the roof complete with roof beams. The hike to the ruin from the parking area is short and pretty easy but the scramble up into the ruins is somewhat hairy in that is is loose rock and given how high you are it is a little unnerving.
The ruin is located at 34°55'27.22"N 112° 3'48.98"W on the cliff face. You just follow the trail around and into the ruin it is easy to spot.
The parking area is at 34°55'30.61"N 112° 4'19.19"W. From the lot just follow one of several trails East.
Getting to the parking lost is another thing; however, it takes a high clearance vehicle and any way in is about 45 miles off road on roads that are at times bad.
Take Hwy 89 North out of Prescott, AZ and go through Chino Valley and Paulden. Turn right on Drake Road Hwy 71 at the cement plant. Follow this road to 34°59'45.93"N 112°21'28.97"W where the road splits take the right split. The road continues and turns into Rd 73. Just follow the main road until the road comes to a T at 34°57'19.63"N 112°12'47.81"W taking the road to the right. Stay on this road a couple of miles until 34°55'34.61"N 112°12'22.47"W taking the road to the left here is where it starts getting rougher.
From here it is about 18 miles to the site. I have put a cover picture of the ruin but is is coming up sideways in my write up and I don't know how to fix it - sorry about that.
