Ran the east fork with Caylin, Beth, and Jared in about 5 hours. There were multiple extended tight squeeze sections and raps through tight slots that took some time. There was one small pool at the bottom of the last rap that Jared stemmed over and the rest of us walked through. The deep slots were beautiful! Would definitely do it again with a smaller pack next time preferably.

Ran with Caylin, Beth, and Jared in 5.5 hours. No water. The last rap had only one bolt which was backed up with a chock stone far back from the edge. Not a great beginner canyon because of some committed stemming portions and difficult exit. Encountered a dead cow.

Ran the long route with Caylin, Beth, and Jared in 6.5 hours. There always no water and all the anchors were intact. We found the shortcut after the crack route exit to join up with the short exit trail. We should have shuttled the road section in hindsight. It was a long sandy walk at the beginning and end of the day.

Ran with Caylin in over 6 hours. We rebuilt the deadman at the first rap. Significant water was present up to chest deep. New bolts were present at the last rap. The climb out was tough. We used a fixed rope left by a previous party. Solid climbing skills are necessary for at least one member and belaying following party members would be wise.

Descended into the west fork. Just after the rap, we encountered a pot hole full of water and mud. Decided to ascend back out and come back with pothole gear.

Out and back with Caylin in 4 hours. Stopped just after the rap/ascent d/t a large water filled chamber. The rest of the water was avoidable with stemming. Very short fun section for the hours of slogging through the sand.

Ran with Caylin in just under 5 hours. Waited for one large group at the rap for 30 min.

Beautiful canyon for what it was. A couple of short up climbs that could be challenging for those who don’t climb. The most challenging part was finding the path between chute and crack canyon- good navigation skills necessary. We did chute first, then crack, but the beta recommends the opposite way. I’d recommend chute as an out and back to any ability. Epic views, easy walking. Just need high clearance to access.

We didn’t do the rappel due to the waning sunlight. But the hike through the canyon would be excellent for all abilities with epic views on cool days. Definitely worth going back to do the rappels.

Beautiful window simul rap. We did with a 70 m dynamic. Thought a 200 might just barely reach, but we weren’t sure. Definitely worth the walk in which was relatively mellow and quick. Appropriate for anyone with route finding ability.
