Climbing Via Ferrata del Cabirol
Alghero Sardinia (Italy)
Overview
SEASON: Any
GEAR: Standard Via Ferrata Gear
Having done Via Ferratas in northern Italy and Spain, I have always found them fun, but not particularly challenging or difficult. Most were fun, but short and not nearly as engaging as climbing.
That perspective changed when Cristina and I did the Via Ferrata del Cabirol in Alghero. This is an absolutely stunning Via both in scenery, as well as position and movement. It is engaging and fun. This is a outing not to be missed if you are in the area.
At about a kilometer, it gives a good length. Expect to take 2-4 hours. Being on the west side of the island, it is in the shade in the morning, making for a good outing in the heat of the summer, and stays shaded until mid-day.
