Floating the Colorado doesn't get much easier than this! The stretch from Cisco to Hittle Bottom, class I, is a fantastic family float. At 24 miles, it can generally be done as one long day, but it is recommended to take two, and enjoy a leisurely pace. Good camping abounds along the river, with the first 16 miles being fairly remote and quiet. The final 8 miles parallel the highway, but still offer good camping options.

The float goes under Dewey Bridge after 16 miles. The bridge, built in 1916, was the second longest wooden suspension bridge west of the Mississippi when it was built. Sadly, in April 2008, the bridge burned down. This was the result of a child playing with matches. Due to this unfortunate incident, the only structure left of the bridge are the abutments on each side of the river, and metal cables crossing the river. From the bridge down stream, begins the BLM River Recreation area. There is a campground just down river on the left, allowing for a good place to camp if making the trip 2 days, or even a possible take-out/put-in if looking for a shorter distance.

The rest of the trip parallels the highway, and offers outstanding views and a few interesting side trips. If your looking to escape the crowds and have an easy float, or are a beginner looking to get some easy mileage in on the river, this is a good stretch to float.
