Maybe Mindbender Canyon - Robbers Roost
Date: 11/26/2021
This canyon had it all! (Except water and pothole escapes - which was just fine because it was cold!). Morgan, Bryce, Seth and I. The Canyoneering formed up almost immediately making for a great entrence hike. BIG and beautiful rappels with several tight squeeze sections. Larger folks had to go high in a few places. The main Can was gorgeous with huge walls on either side of a Sandy wide bottom. We found the mini steps without much trouble but were surprised by their difficulty. There were only 4 or five shallow divots carved into a very slick and exposed slab. We all climbed out unaided but were a bit puckered in our sandy shoes. 5.6. Presumably one person could solo then set up a belay. Pictographs and expansive sand stone bluffs made for a scenic exit. Hawkins family shuttled our car to the exit. NOTE: there was a super scenic and nice camp there. About 6 hours for the whole loop. Not great for inexperienced folks - or expect to rap and belay more.

Excellent hike with interspersed pictograph panels. Great way to spend thanks giving thinking about the people that used to inhabit these canyons. Longer walk than expected. 4.5 hours.

Morgan, Bryce, Elsa, Hawkin, Seth, and I! We did a loop down little blue and up the main fork. STELLAR! Little blue had several fun smaller rappels with not much squeeze but some nice narrows. TBH my parents (someone without a ton of down climbing experience) could have enjoyed little blue. We walked up the main fork with had a SUPER deep walking narrows section for like a half mile! It then abruptly climbed to the surface with sustained 5.6 off width/chimneying/face climbing. Very secure but hard work! We exited the main fork right above the squeeze section and cut back to our camp/car. The next day, Hawkin and his fam went down the little blue exit and walked up the main fork to the squeeze section for a fun family friendly out and back.

Morgan, Bryce, Elsa, Seth and I. We took the long entrence. It was cool to start from the very top and watch the canyon form, but over all a longer walk than we would have liked and not that pretty. Mostly crumbly dirt, bushes, and cow sign. We did an out and back, turning around before the first rappel. GREAT squeeze section. Very narrow with several cool down squeezes. I was bummed to be turning around but a small pool of water where we would have had to get our ankles wet was convincing.

Morgan, Bryce, Seth, Hawkin, and Elsa. It was WET. Three mandatory swims with some difficult stemming (5.9) over some other water. I slipped and skinned my knee! Wished we wore wetsuits. Would be much easier with less water.
