Leprechaun Canyon - North Wash
Date: 10/25/2024
Left/West Fork with Jacq, Emily, Jenn, and Meg. A few narrow sections but nothing like Middle Fork (did this in 2013?). No issues, no water, easy navigation.

3 hours 37 minutes with a long lunch break with Jacq, Lisa, and Caroline. 10-15% chance of rain and it rained on us at the last rappel - very light rain, no issues. Beautiful day otherwise. 2 other groups behind us and 1 in front but we never saw them. Fun rappels back to back.

2 hours 35 minutes Friday Afternoon with Jacq, Caroline, and Lisa. Temps were 50's and sunny, beautiful weather. We thought this was a beautiful canyon (views from afar were especially great) despite bad reviews on this site.

Didn’t bring enough rope to rappel both sections together so used a biner block to rappel single line. Lucky rope pull worked using webbing. Rappel at stage 2 was under water and in bad shape so we didn’t want to rappel on it. Bring 125 feet next time or bring pull cord. (Caroline, Meg, Jenn, Emily, + me)

Bailed before first rappel. First pothole that was not stemmable was full of ice, slab climb around looked spicy. (Caroline, Meg, Emily, Jenn, + me)

Parked at new trailhead - sign clearly states no vehicles so we obliged. Just Jacq and I. Just under 6 hours car to car from the new trailhead (which adds 1 mile each way to the beta). 4-5 pools with water, several mandatory swims. The water level is low compared to other reports from prior years. Got our rope stuck on one of the rappels so had to ascend and reposition it for the pull. Otherwise no issues. Hike out sucks. Uphill rocky section for about 30 minutes, then an hour or so of desert hiking.

Jacq and I did this late afternoon after work. Completely Dry. Rappelled the first option as described in this beta. Rappel drops you into a keeper pothole. The two of us took about 25 minutes to get out of the pothole - used 2 pot shots and a bag tossed on top of the pot shots to hold them down. Jacq had to stand on my shoulders with boosts from my hands to get out. Second pothole was easy to escape, solo if needed but we used a partner boost. Chose the standard exit as we were running out of daylight, would love to go back and do the other exit.

Jacq, Elena, Caroline - Very low water when we did this, so only a couple spots where we had to swim. Very enjoyable, easy Canyon. Had a little trouble finding the rappel but once we did it was straightforward.
